Watershed Day & Awards Ceremony, March 20th 2017
On March 20th, MWCC will bring members of the watershed directory together to tell your stories of success in natural resource stewardship to your local policy makers here and other state representatives and agency personnel.
MWCC’s network is diverse, statewide, and incorporates so many different entities, including conservation districts, watershed groups, agencies both state and federal, nonprofits, and individuals that also work in watershed conservation. The entire MWCC Directory is welcome to attend!
To begin the day, groups will set up displays in the Capitol Rotunda that describe their community engagement efforts, educational campaigns, and on the ground restoration and conservation projects. To increase the impact of watershed day, MWCC plans to provide a brief training on effective communication with legislators, including who their specific legislators are and invitations for legislators to attend a provided lunch. Watershed Day will culminate with a presentation of the Wetland and Watershed Awards. This is a joint effort between the Montana Wetland Council and MWCC to recognize groups or individuals that exemplify commitment and excellence to wetland and watershed stewardship through collaborative and holistic efforts. We are proud to honor Broadwater Conservation District, Jeff Tiberi, The Trust for Public Lands, and Larry Urban as the 2017 award recipients!
To finish out the day, MWCC and the Wetland Council are also planning a legislative reception at the Montana Historical Society. We will be inviting watershed groups, legislators, partners, and agency representatives to come together for an evening of networking and socializing.
MWCC is also providing travel scholarships to those that apply by 3/13. The deadline for general registration is 3/15. If you have any questions or would like more information please contact email@example.com. We look forward to seeing you on March 20th!
