Virtual Water Rights WorkshopDate / Time: October 20, 2020 11:00 am
This is a reminder that the Gallatin River Task Force is hosting the Virtual Water Rights Workshop on October 20th from 11-3:30PM! If you have not registered yet please use the link below!
11am -12pm: Kerri Strasheim, Department of Natural Resource Conservation:
Water Rights 101; General water rights and water law.
12-12:30pm: Lunch Break
12:30-1:30pm: Megan Casey, Trout Unlimited:
In-stream Flow; “In the face of increasing demands on a decreasing water supply, coldwater fisheries are often the first to feel it. By enabling water right holders to change aspects of their uses, conserved water can be legally protected instream to bolster critical habitat and restore degraded systems. Similarly, expanding Montana’s framework for mitigating new water uses could provide more, and more effective, ways to offset depletions resulting from new development.”
1:30- 2:15pm: Kerri Stasheim, DNRC:
Current Water Supply Planning; Area-specific conditions, challenges, and available tools.
2:15-3:30pm: Mace Mangold, WGM Engineering Group:
Wastewater Discharge and Water Supply Planning; How disposal options relate to conservation, water supply and water rights, and in-stream water quality. Mace will look at Canyon Area disposal alternatives.
