Seeing Our Conservation Work Through the Lens of Climate Change: Starting a Conversation

Date / Time: December 20, 2018 11:00 am

How is our work linked with adapting to and/or mitigating climate change and how should we be talking about it? We’ll start with the basics of how we understand climate change and the concept of “natural climate solutions.” And then we’ll hear how one Oregon land trust staff is beginning to incorporate climate change language into their conservation planning and how they are talking with funders, partners, landowners, and board members about it. There will be time for discussion and sharing thoughts, fears, and opportunities as we approach this conversation about the role of districts, land trusts, and watershed councils.

Presenters:

Dr. Rose Graves, PSU and The Nature Conservancy Fellow
Fiona Noonan, Conservation Associate, Deschutes Land Trust
