Sun River Valley School in Simms has been named the Montana state winner in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest.

The nationwide contest aims to raise enthusiasm in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects by encouraging teachers and students to solve issues in their community using STEM skills.

The problem the students addressed is water contamination issues due to flooding, bacterial and various other problems. The Sun River team worked to eliminate contamination by engineering a silver nanoparticle water filter that will provide the community with an alternative solution for filtering drinking water.
