Releases of water from Fort Peck Dam in Montana are picking because of high inflows from rapidly melting mountain snowpack but remain far below releases in the severe flooding year of 2011, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Tuesday.

“In 2011, we went up to 65,000 (cfs) out of Fort Peck,” said Mike Swenson, water management officer for the U.S. Corps of Engineer’s Water Management Office in Omaha, Neb.
