We are looking for an enthusiastic Section Supervisor (Supervisor) with a passion for people and water to manage the Watershed Protection Section. At the Department of Environmental Quality, we are striving to make our work environment a supportive and fun environment that fosters a work/life balance.
The Watershed Protection Section protects and restores waterbodies throughout Montana. Supervisor responsibilities include oversight of 12 employees on projects such as developing watershed restoration plans and Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs). The Supervisor is also responsible for DEQ’s wetland and nonpoint source programs, including overseeing 319 grants for water quality improvement projects. The Supervisor directs resources, develops short and long-term goals, manages budgets, and develops stakeholder relationships.
Majority of the travel will be during April to October.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, hydrology, chemistry, or a related field and 3 years of related work experience. Demonstrated experience leading people is required, although this may be from roles other than formal supervision.
