Funding for Professional Development Opportunities
As we slowly return to in-person trainings, tours, and conferences this year, don’t forget the MWCC Watershed Fund has funding available to support learning opportunities at these events. The purpose of Watershed Fund Professional Development Support is to allow local watershed organizations to acquire skills and knowledge relevant to watershed health in their communities. Funding is available to eligible entities (see below) on a reimbursement basis for travel, lodging, and registration fees for a wide range of events, from capacity-building and grant-writing trainings to soil health workshops and MWCC’s Fall Watershed Tour. There is no funding limit, but MWCC does take into account financial need of the applicant and the needs of other potential applicants. Most awards are $500 or less.
Watershed Fund Professional Development Support is currently available for:
- Local watershed organizations that are hosting Big Sky Watershed Corps members, implementing Montana DEQ-approved Watershed Restoration Plans (WRPs), and attending professional development events that support their capacity to implement WRPs.
- Conservation District staff and supervisors attending events that allow them to acquire skills, knowledge, and resources relevant to watershed and natural resource health in their communities.
To request funding to attend an event or training, first, read the guidelines on the Watershed Fund Professional Development Support page. Then fill out the online Professional Development Support Request Form, linked at the top of the page. A list of questions included in the request form is attached at the bottom of the page.
